What is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is one of the oldest forms of therapy in the world. It is a gentle, guided approach that uses focused attention and deep relaxation to access the subconscious mind ( the programming region with our brain) It is a little like meditation only more tailored to the individual and it can be used with specific therapeutic techniques or language to achieve better results and quicker outcomes. As hypnosis is a natural state it is not to be feared (we go into a hypnotic state whenever we daydream or do a task or activity whilst being in the flow.) Whilst under hypnosis your conscious brain is still engaged and you are still aware and fully in control. Most people find the experience to be very calming, comfortable and deeply relaxing.

How many sessions will I need?
This depends on the individual and the issue/s they are wanting to resolve. Some people notice a resolution or a definite positive change after just one session, whilst others benefit from a small number of sessions. For quitting smoking a minimum of 4 sessions is usually recommended as it takes time to implement new habits and reprogram the brain from addiction. That said, it is possible to give up smoking after just one session. Your needs, goals and progress will help determine what's right for you. I want your sessions to be a success and for you to reach your goals, so I will refer you elsewhere if I can see that it is not the right form of therapy for you.

Is Hypnotherapy Safe?
Hypnotherapy is very safe and effective. You are still fully conscious and able to function normally whilst under hypnosis. If for example, a smoke alarm went off in a nearby room, you would be fully awake, alert, and able to jump up and into action. Many people are interested in exploring Hypnotherapy as it has one of the most statistically proven efficacy rates of all therapies ( A study published in the American Journal of Clinical Hypnosis found that hypnosis was effective in treating 93% of patients with anxiety disorders)

What is Lomi Lomi Massage?
Lomi Lomi massage is a traditional form of Hawaiian massage. Lomi Lomi is characterized by long, rhythmic strokes using the forearms, hands and elbows. The movements can feel like a continous wave flowing over the body and this massage has a traditional cultural and spiritual element to it. It is great for relaxation, circulation, easing tension and movement of lymph. It has been known as the "Rolls Royce of Massage" for very good reason!

What is Reiki or Energy Healing?
Reiki is a form of energy healing that originated in Japan and is very well known and respected. I was taught face to face under the Usui lineage. Reiki helps balance or channel a persons energy. In sessions the client lies fully clothed on a massage table whilst the practitioner performs reiki using their hands (placing their hands on the clients body or off the body according to their wishes) A Reiki session is deeply relaxing and can bring up subtle physical sensations or emotional release in a person.

Can I claim using my health care benefits?
You may be able to claim hypnotherapy sessions using your health care fund. Please talk to me prior to booking if this is something you are requiring.

Do you do online sessions? How is this different to in person sessions?
Online sessions are available for Clinical Hypnotherapy, Counselling/Psychotherapy and Reiki. There is no difference in outcomes or pricing for online sessions in comparison to face to face. Some people find being in their own home or space to be more comfortable and easier to relax. Online sessions are available through MS Teams. Please email me if you have any questions.
